The bevel tip is like someone took a metal rod and cut across the end at an angle.
The result is a flat oval end that you just lay on the came joints with some solder (and of course flux) and when you lift the iron straight up from the joint it leaves a perfectly soldered joint every time.

3/8 Chisel Tip for Hakko 456/16

The 3/8" chisel tip is my favorite for general purpose soldering. Being beefier than the standard 3/16" tip it has a greater mass for more heat holding power.
Some folks feel they have more control over a narrow tip, but frankly, I solder with the corner of the tip. Whether the tip is 3/16" wide or 3 inches wide, a corner is a corner! Only in rare instances where you need to actually tuck the whole tip into a tight space will you really need a narrow tip. The rest of the time you get the advantage of having a larger "heat pipe" to conduct heat freely from the heater to the work. ONE PER PACKAGE
