We proudly feature Canfield solder. The only solder we will work with at Dodge Studio.

Canfield is the only solder maker we know of that uses only virgin metals. Now I want to save the planet at least as much as the next guy, but the simple fact is that government standards for recycled metals are not as stringent as those for virgin metals. The sad result is that recycled metal solder products just don't perform the same.

If you've been experiencing hazy patches on your solder or just find that your iron tip gets dirty way too fast, you must be an old friend of the recyclers! All those impurities have to go somewhere after all.

Canfield 50/50 solder- 1 lb spool

Canfield 50/50 is our workhorse solder. Unless we have a very special reason to use another grade this is the one that we use. We find it makes the highest bead and is also the easiest solder to patch your errors with.

Canfield 60/40 Solder- 1 lb. spool

Canfield 60/40 is almost too pure for me! If I were forced to use some other brand I'd choose the 60/40, but in canfield it flows like water! I only use it to do decorative work on top of 50/50 solder.

Canfield Lead Free Pewter Finish

Canfield Pewter Finish is a lead free solder. As you probably know, lead, a major ingredient in all the solders above is quite toxic and must be handled with care.

Lead free solders are more difficult to work with, (no matter what anyone tells you). Furthermore, they are do not take many popular patinas very well.

Still and all, lead free has its place. If you are making jewelry, food dishes or anything that might be handled by children or are pregnant, lead free is the only responsible way to go. (Note: if you are pregnant, consult your physician before handling solders, fluxes and patinas.)

Silvergleem Lead free 1/2 lb

Silvergleem is a heavily silver laden lead free solder for superior shine in jewelry applications. All that silver costs a lot of money, (note that this is the half pound price), but the good news is that in making little pieces of jewelry you don't use a lot of metal.

Canfield 63/37 Solder- 1 lb. spool

63/37, Ultimate solder achieves the lowest melting point and pasty range possible in a tin/lead solder. Use it on top of 60/40 to further expand your decorative soldering skills.
