I've been cutting glass about 8 years--self taught--and do a pretty good job most of the time. But I am still unsure how to properly touch the soldering iron tip to the copper foil line to apply the solder. I hold the entire iron at a 45 degree angle to the glass with the flat sides of the tip facing up and down. I lay a flat side of the tip on the foil so the other flat side of the tip faces up. I apply the solder to the upper facing flat side of the iron and allow the solder to run down and form the bead as I move the tip. Do you place the flat side of your iron on the foil as I do? Or do you place only a corner or the tip on the foil so that the two flat sides of the tip are not facing up and down, but rather are facing right and left as you solder. Which way is correct? Is there a correct way?. thanx, ted
