Gary,

Thanks so much for the info. It really does help us to decide. By the way this is a really great site!

Thanks again,

Amy

: Amy,

: There are a lot of things to look at. Just how much thicker or thinner is some of the glass. Usually the differences are no more than the thickness of a few sheets of paper, maybe 1/32". Differences like that don't really show up in a window or lamp which will typically be viewed from several feet away. If on the other hand you are making a petit jewelry box that will be fondled and viewed from about 12", that can be another story. Since the box will be appreciated from only one side, (nobody really spends a lot of time studying the inside of a box, you may wish to solder the back first so the front looks its' best.

: If you are dealing with some really extreme differences in thickness in a piece that will be viewed from both sides you may want to use scraps of paper or posterboard to hold the thin pieces up so that they are centered relative to the thicknesses of the pieces surrounding them.

: : Hi.. My daughter and I are fairly new to stained glass. We are doing a panel together and some of the glass is thicker than other pieces. My question is when tacking the panel together would it be better to tack the back side first so the front side is all even or does it really matter?

: : Thanks for your time!
