Zinc is not that rigid and will stretch if put under load.

Attaching your hangers to the side rails would definitely have been a better way to go. If you need to attach hangers to the top of a panel it should only be at points where the solder lines secure the top rail so the real weight is supported by the solder lines that go into the panel rather than putting the whole load on the frame material.

: I framed a work 12" high & 18" wide with 1/2" zinc framing & soldered the rings 4" in from each end on the back of the top rail. After hanging a few weeks the top rail pulled away from the work bowing 2" in the center. Should I have attached to the side rails or used a different frame or what? Help !!
