Jo, come on over to Silicon Folly and read (or print or download)the Stepping Stone Manuals there. Part #1 is all about techniques for doing Indirect (poured) stones. Part #2 is all about formulas for making your own concrete. You can use the high end formulation or a basic one. I don't like to talk about Flashcrete and Diamondcrete here because Gary sells Diamondcrete. But, I have to tell you that both of these are gypsum based products and will not hold up oudoors. If you doubt that, come to the Stone & Mosaic Forum on Silicon Folly and talk to some of the people who have had nightmare problems with these products.

There is also a method on SF for doing Direct (glued and grouted) stones by Djd. Eveything you need to know about concrete arts and much more. It's all for information. I'm not selling anything there and all info is free. If you have questions, feel free to e-mail me.

Don't waste time and good glass doing stones with anything but a good concrete formula or product that will hold up to all kinds of weather.

: Ok, I'm going to give it a try and make a stepping stone.
: After looking at the many different was to make these, which do you suggest???? Is this product called Flashcrete good quality stuff? I have a butterfly mold and I want to get the glass cut, but after that I'm lost as to how it goes in the mold and what I need to do...
: help....puleazeeeeeeee!!! thanks!!! I'm goint to order the Hako soldering iron and temp controller, and learn to copper foil, guess it will be a self teaching thing, lead came has not been good to me!! but, I will give that another try also...I love this hobby, but stopped because of the #%^#%&*^ grinder I had. Thanks to you and Angel I'm going to invest in good equipment so please any suggestions are very much welcome!! I consider myself to still be new, as the 3 awful projects that I've done, I figure there has got to be a better way, and if it's the equipment I use, then I'll upgrade!! I will need to find a copper foil teaching site and print it out and see how things work from there.

: Thanks again Gary and to you to Angel!!! You folks are most awesome!!!
