Being you titled you post "foil" I assume that you are making these suncatchers with foil.
First, how large are these pieces. When I think of suncatchers, I think of smaller sized items. If they are on the larger size you do need some type of reinforcing around the outside of the entire piece.
Second, are you building up an addequate bead on your seams and are you edge beading the entire piece if it is small or reinforcing the outside as mentioned above.
It is hard to tell exactly what would be wrong without knowing how big the pieces are and how you solder.
