I'd recommend that you frame the panels in wood and use a standard hinge from the hardware store.
The constant pull of gravity on the unsupported end of your panel may eventually cause the panels to fail if you don't give them adequate support.

An alternative is to use a 1/2" Brass "U" came around the panels. Make sure that the brass is soldered to the panel at as many points as possible. Again, you can use a hinge from the hardware store. Make sure that it is solid brass, not just brass plated. Pre-tin the hinge and the brass came before soldering them together and make sure to use plenty of heat to ensure a solid joint.

I am interested in making 2 stained glass panels and mounting them on the sides of my window as shutters. Do you have any hinges that would accommodate this? Or suggestions?
