Hi Pam,

You'll need a strip of thin aluminum cut from a soda can. You need to heat the solder line at a point where there is a lot of space between the glass pieces and when the solder melts, you'll be able to slide the aluminum strip in between the glass pieces. (Since solder doesn't stick to aluminum it is perfect for separating the pieces.)

Just continue to melt the solder along the length of the line, sliding the strip along as you go, to separate and remove the broken piece.

: I have just finished a piece for my daughter that is 16 x 20. I plan on putting zinc came around the edge to frame it. The top right-hand piece cracked at some point, and I saw it when I washed off the flux and held it to the light. I would like to take that piece off and replace it...is that very hard..and what are the steps?
