: I am a novice at stained glass and have only been working on projects for about 7-8 months. A friend has asked me to touch up a piece that she picked up at a garage sale. It is a couple of years old and has already turned a natural patina. The solder joints also have a white powery corrison on them. I think that is from improper cleaning and the flux was not neutralized. The piece is a mixture of lead came and copper foil. I want to clean it and appply a black patina after repairing a couple of solder seams. What is the best way to clean the solder? Is there a chemical strip or just a lot of sanding with steel wool?
