Thanks Angel For your advice on black patina. I am new as I had said, so I'm learning a lot of things the hard way. If it were not for you and Gary, I probably would have quit. I have just gone through a big cotastrophy trsolder some xmas gifts I had made. For some reason I couldn't get the solder to run smooth. The iron seemed to be getting hot then cold then hot and cold. I have a good regulator so I tried a different outlet and no change. I used more flux still no change. Meanwhile I cracked the glass on two pieces and the solder looked like it was thrown on. I've narrowed it down to the solder iron is broken. I used an old one from the shop where I buy my supplies and it worked fine. So I'm on line now looking for a message I read last week where you or Gary had mentioned a solder iron you thought was good.
