: No matter how I try I have very sore, cut fingers. I wear
: vinyl gloves but they are annoying, I can't pick up the glass properly or anything else for that matter. So I end up taking them off. I get little tiny pieces of glass in my fingers and I have to pick them out with a pin. Also when I'm soldering I always seam to catch the gloves on something and rip a hole in them or catch the glove on the soldering iron and burn it. I guess I'm asking what do most people use for glass cutting and soldering?

I too tried the latex gloves for when I grind my glass, however, the fingertips kept wearing out and they did little good. Recently, I have tried using a pair of snug fitting rubber gloves that I had for washing dishes. These let me hold the glass securely while I grind and the finger tips don't wear out as fast. They are also good when I am washing my pieces.

I do not wear gloves to cut or solder.

However, are you brushing your hands across your work surface? If you are, you may be picking up slivers there. I have a small brush handy and sweep my surface after almost every cut to keep the surface clean.
