Hi Teresa,

First off, before the purists start coming out of the woodwork, it needs to be said that there is a large school of stained glass artists who will insist that a "window" can only be done in lead came. There are certainly some good reasons for this argument that I won't go into here.

That said, a copper foil window is a lot like a panel except that as things get larger reinforcement and design become more critical issues. You can address reinforcement by use of internal reinforcements like restrip or Morton Strong Line or by attaching an external rebar.

The design thing takes a bit more experience, but in general you need to watch that the glass pieces interlock in a way that builds strength. A design that is all diamonds, like the traditional design used in Tudor homes with it's many parallel lines that traverse the entire panel are very weak and are best supported by a bar, internal reinforcement won't help.

: Hi, Does anyone know where I can get some stained glass training videos? Specifically on windows. I would like to make a bathroom window. So far I have done several panels, suncatchers and boxes all in foil method. I feel like if I do a window I would need some assistance via.. a video! Or, is a window just like making a larger panel?
