Am in the process of making my first lamp and am experiencing some frustrations. Some of the pattern pieces already had to be altered when compared to the magic strips b/c they weren't matching up. I cut the pieces to fit the patterns, yet they still don't fit right when they are laid on the form. Should I just cut my pieces "close" to the pattern and then lie them on the form, check fit and then go from there? Should I also leave the pieces on the form as I cut them and line them up on the form as I go along? The teacher for the class has us laying our cut out pieces on copied sheets of our repeats. Seems silly to pull them off the form as I finish a repeat, only to have to pin them all back on at the end. Working with the jewels has been frustrating, as they are smaller than the alloted space on the pattern. I am doing the dragonfly pattern if it is useful info. Thanks as always for the great feedback from this board.
