Sometimes you need to use several different came sizes in the same panel. Smaller profiles for the little pieces and larger ones on the larger structural elements of the design.

It helps if you can analyze the design to see which ways it is likely to bend due to the interlocking action (or lack thereof) of the glass pieces. You can put some copper restrip or Morton strong line into some of the cames under the glass for extra strength, and don't forget to affix at least 2 rebars (anchored into the wooden frame) on a window of this size and possibly three if the design is very weak or if you use a lot of the very narrow cames.


: The panels I am completing that were designed and started by someone else are approximately 2' X 5'. They are quite detailed and have many pieces. Is there a formula to determine the best size came for a project of this type? Some of the pieces are so small, I don't know how much of the glass will actually show.
: The supplies may already be there, but there are so many projects there that I want to make sure I use the right materials. Thanks again for your advise.
