Hi Conrad,

The solder and flux I use are both Canfield brand.

Canfield is the only brand of solder that I find the 50/50 solder to be usable. If you must use anything else, insist on the 60/40.

As for the flux, watery may not be the best way to describe the problem. Canfield themselves make several different types of flux, two of which are common at glass suppliers. The first, Blue Glass Flux is a watery blue flux that bubbles and spits and is in my opinion not at all pleasant to work with. The second, is Soldermate 11. It is fairly colorless, and not much thicker that the other, but feels a bit slick or oily and is simply everything that the Blue flux lacks.

We sell all three items (solder, flux, Sal-ammonic) here. Just email or call if you are interested.

: You mentioned in your glass work topics that you use a good solder made from virgin metals and a flux that is not too watery . I believe that the flux I am using is to watery. Can you please tell me where to buy the solder and flux that you like so well. Does this suplier also have the sal ammoniac blocks. I sure could use one.
: Conrad
