Personally I have little experience with lead free, but from the time or two I've experimented with it here are my observations:

You will need to work at a higher temperature than with your 60/40 but not radically higher.
You will need to clean your iron tip frequently.
You may be better off if you use a bit more flux or perhaps add it more often.
It just will never compete with 60/40 or 50/50 for ease of use, no matter what anybody tells you.

Anybody out there done much work with lead free?

: Help, I have run out of 60/40 solder and I only have lead free sodler left. What setting do I put my rheostat on for lead free solder? I have never tried lead free before, does anyone have any suggestions for using it?
