I agree 100% and I do the same thing you do really, unless the bevels are just borders. I assemble and solder the bevelled accent piece and then design around that. Works like a charm.


Ref your foiling advice: I call it my 60/40 method. 60% on the front of the glass, 40% on the back, and I use it a lot, not just on bevels. If for instance, I have a teeny tiny opaque piece of glass, I'll cut the foil smaller and place the bulk of it towards the back of the piece. Or if say, the piece is long and thin... or I want to make a "joint" in a leaf stem... or.. ohh there's a lot of instances where this is artistically more appealing. Of course this only works with pieces you can't see through. People should never be afraid to experiment, great beauty sometimes comes from huge mistakes!
