Hi Nancy,

There is a lot to your question.

First off, any well made piece should have more than just foil around the edges. At the very least a carefully applied bead of solder all the way around. This requires a great deal of patience and practice. Once you learn to apply a good edge bead you have something substantial to solder a chain or loop to.
As for as solder falling off the edge, that is a matter of temperature control and technique. You need to keep your iron at the right temperature so that the solder is a bit less watery for soldering edge beads and for attaching loops and the like.
If you can't make a nice edge bead, the next option is to use wire around the edge of your piece and bend the loops in the wire for attaching chain.

: I have learned most thinsg by doing but putting a chain on has got to be easier? If I want it in a location where there is just the edge foil it is not solid? Any ideas? I always use a lite chain but there is nothing to grab it and it falls off the edge most of the time, or the solder falls off the edge?
: Can someone help?
