Hi Lillyn,

What you use to hang a panel of any size depends a lot on what you have used around the panel. Whatever you solder on as a hanger must have something worthy of supporting the panel to solder onto.
If your panel has foil around the edge it is essential that you have a really good solder bead built up on the foil. If you have a substantial solder beaded edge, you can solder a jump ring to it and it will hold the panel. If you are unsure of what constitutes a substantial solder bead, it is best to either:
1) make sure that you solder your rings to a point on the panel where a solder line meets the edge so that the ring is tied directly into a line that goes right into the structure of the panel,
or
2) fashion your own loops with "legs". Bend a piece of wire around a rod or small pipe allowing the wire to extend at right angles from the loop. Leave the wire legs that stick out from the loop long enough to reach solder lines at the panel edge so that there is plenty of support for the panel.

For the large panels, maybe you should be framing them in a larger metal stock. I use 1/2" zinc or brass came around larger work. I use "handy hangers", which I suspect may be what you've been using. They slide neatly into the outside space of the 1/2" cames and solder in.

: Newer to the hobby of stained glass and was wondering what everyone uses to hang their pieces? Asking about specifically smaller panels, like 10X10". Also, what does one use to hang panels (larger ones) when you use the thinner zincs to frame? It seems the loops with metal tabs I buy at the local shop have tabs far wider than my zinc and wouldn't look all that great. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
