What brand of Grinder and what brand grinding head are you using? Sounds like you have a defective grinder bit. Inland is fairly well known for that, but it's a possibility with some others as well. There's not much you can do while grinding to produce a chipped edge on your own....it's not technique related....it's equipment. Some people report chipping with new Grinder heads but I use Glastar and have never had that problem.

: I need to know what I am doing wrong when I grind my glass pieces. The immediate top and bottom of the glass next to the edge are not smooth. It almost looks like the grinder is not sharp enough and takes tiny little bites out of the glass. I bought my grinder new and it has always done this. Any thoughts?
